Giving fancily brewed coffees a whole new meaning is a luxurious coffee machine by Royal Paris that is nothing like the ordinary! Aptly titled as “Royal Coffee Maker”, the exotic syphon brewer is handcrafted in 24- carat gold or silver, with crystals and semi-precious stones meticulously chiseled on its exterior. Limited to only eight units, the bespoke machines are produced by hand each month after undergoing 50 hours of tediously long workmanship.
Inspired by Syphon coffee brewers as first seen in the 1850’s, the brand started manufacturing similar machines in collaboration with French artist Jean – Luc – Rieutort from the year 1990 onward. Each part of the Royal Coffee maker is painstakingly handmade, carved, assembled and decorated. Core elements of the brewer such as the gargoyle spigot, fish key, counter weight, oak leaves and finials are then brought to life via a unique wax casting method. Lastly, details such as the “chasing dolphins” closing system is laboriously molded and chiseled onto each of the pieces.
For being an exquisite looking coffee machine, its working mechanism is pretty simple. On placing the ground coffee in the fine Baccarat crystal carafe, hot water needs to be poured into boiler pot, by lighting up the Baccarat burner vase. Minutes later, the fully automated system brews out an impeccable coffee blend at the perfect temperature with no artificial filters. This superbly engineered and rather “Kingly” brewer can also be customized for the preferred choice of metal (including 24-karat gold, copper or silver options), semi-precious material (including black obsidian, azurite or malachite base) and inklings (with or without your engraved initials, company name, or family crest.) The Royal Coffee maker will retail between £9,000 and £15,000.
