If you could use a little more luxury in your life, a nearly $20,000 coffee maker could be the answer to your woes.
The Royal Coffee Maker from Royal Paris was designed by French artist Jean-Luc Rieutort, and is for coffee connoisseurs who prefer their coffee taken with care, diligence and precision. (If you throw back two espresso shots each morning, this may not be for you.) Handcrafted with 24-karat gold (or silver) and crystal and semi-precious stone, the coffee maker retails for up to $18,000.
Each Royal Coffee Maker requires 50 hours of workmanship, and the spigot’s ‘chasing dolphins’ closing system alone takes more than 5 hours to craft.
The device, which took three years to develop, is a recreation of the historic syphon coffee makers used in the 1800s by royalty, reports Yahoo News UK. Grounds are placed in a crystal carafe, hot water is poured into a boiler pot and an automatic system brews the coffee at the perfect temperature.
